Lothrop Award of Excellence

The Association of Investment Marketing and Sales Executives (AIMSE) presents this prestigious award each year to an exemplary individual as recognized by his or her peers at the AIMSE Investment Management Marketing & Sales Conference. This award is named in honor of Richard A. Lothrop, an AIMSE Past President, and a pioneer and innovator in the investment management marketing and sales industry. Richard A. Lothrop is recognized as the founder of AIMSE.

This award is presented each spring at the AIMSE Annual Conference. All AIMSE members are encouraged to submit a nomination for a worthy candidate during the nomination period each year.

James Manley

After 30 years of serving Union and Public Funds, Jim has established Jim Manley Associates, a third party marketing firm. Jim started his sales and marketing career at IBM and his career has included positions at Miller Anderson and Sherrerd, AG Becker, Lehman Management Company, Cashman Ferrell and Associates and most recently Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Prior to his sales and marketing investment career, Jim served in the United States Marine Corps, retiring after 33 years of active and reserve service as a full colonel. Jim is a member of several professional organizations, including: Foundation of Health, Welfare & Benefit Plans; National Coordinating Committee on Multi-Employer Pension Plans; National Association of State Retirement Administrators; National Conference on Teacher Retirement Funds and National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems. Jim was awarded an academic-athletic scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania where he played varsity football and baseball. He graduated from Penn’s Wharton School of Business and Finance with a BS in Economics and a major in Industrial Relations. Jim is a former member of the AIMSE Board of Directors.
